Culver City Launches Free Senior Fitness Classes at Multiple Locations
Culver City Parks and Recreation has expanded its no-cost exercise classes for residents 60 and older at multiple city sites this summer.
How we reported this

Culver City Parks and Recreation launched expanded free fitness classes for seniors on July 1 at two city facilities, drawing 180 participants in the first week alone.
The timing aligns with summer heat patterns that push older adults indoors for structured movement, and city data shows a steady rise in demand for supervised activity that reduces isolation while addressing mobility concerns common after age 65.
Classes meet at the Culver City Senior Center on Overland Avenue and at Veterans Park along Culver Boulevard, both operated directly by the local council without fees or registration costs for qualifying residents.
Schedule and formats at the two sites
At the Senior Center, instructors lead chair yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9 a.m. plus balance training on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Veterans Park hosts outdoor walking groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 a.m. that start from the parking lot near the intersection with Sepulveda Boulevard and return for light strength work using body-weight exercises.
Both locations provide mats and resistance bands supplied by the department, and participants receive printed calendars listing every session through September 30.
Participation numbers and next steps
City records indicate 1,150 seniors took part in at least one council-led fitness session during fiscal year 2025, a 22 percent increase from the prior year, with average class sizes of 22 at the Senior Center and 35 at Veterans Park.
Residents can confirm eligibility and current openings by calling the Parks and Recreation office at 310-253-6500 or visiting the front desk at 4117 Overland Avenue between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays; drop-in attendance is permitted for all listed sessions with a simple sign-in sheet.
