Long Beach Hosts Festivals, Fireworks, and Events Through Late July

Long Beach marks the middle of July with the Pirate Invasion set for July 18 and 19 at Shoreline Aquatic Park.

The timing follows directly after the July 10 to 12 Independence Day period that featured three fireworks shows and early looks at 2028 Olympic coastal sports such as rowing and water polo. Organizers timed the sequence to keep summer activity steady for residents and visitors who use the waterfront and convention facilities on a regular basis.

Events just concluded

The annual Long Beach Tattoo Arts Festival occupied the Long Beach Convention Center from July 10 to 12 with displays of artistry, oddity and vendor booths. The 3rd annual free Long Beach Bluegrass Festival ran July 11 and 12 at the Shell, offering live performances, workshops and a petting zoo each day from 11 AM to 7:30 PM. Both events drew on the same convention-center and waterfront footprint that will host the Pirate Invasion the following weekend.

City records show the Bluegrass Festival schedule remained unchanged from its prior two editions, confirming the 11 AM start and 7:30 PM close each day. The consistent hours allow families to plan around the petting zoo and workshop sessions without additional scheduling changes.

Events ahead

The Pirate Invasion brings live entertainment, ale service and pirate-themed revelry to the Queen Mary Events Park portion of Shoreline Aquatic Park on July 18 and 19. A summertime horror convention returns to the Long Beach Convention Center from July 29 to 31, featuring horror vendors, creative presentations and entertainment. These two events bookend the remainder of the month and reuse the same venues already in use for the earlier festivals.

The sequence of waterfront and indoor programs gives multiple entry points for different age groups and interests through the end of July.
