The program draws from a $14 million allocation listed in the budget's public safety and services section. City analysts project the funds would cover approximately 77,000 accounts across the targeted zones, with Koreatown expected to account for about 12 percent of total recipients.

Next steps in the budget process

The City Council budget committee is scheduled to hold its first hearing on the rebate line item on July 14. Final adoption of the full budget must occur before the new fiscal year begins on July 1, 2027.

Implementation would begin with enrollment through the Department of Water and Power online portal in late August if the line item survives committee review. Payments would appear on October statements for accounts that complete verification by the September deadline.
